Well, Mom left today to head back home. I was feeling pretty sad, and Jai and I both agreed that the house wasa feeling a little bit empty today. I'm hoping they'll decide to make the move soon (plus the Valley could definitely use another bookstore.) Mom says that some of you out there would rather e-mail us than leave a comment on the Blog, so here's my e-mail: lauren@sleepingforeststudios.com and Jai's is jai@sleepingforeststudios.com - pretty easy, I think. We'd love to hear from you guys, sometimes I feel like I'm sending messages out into empty space...
We didn't make it into Halifax with Mom because there was a Red Screen for rainfall and wind warnings. Mom said the highway was pretty bad, like whiteout conditions and hydroplaning. It was rainy here in Bridgetown this morning but turned into a lovely afternoon. We even had a rainbow, and it was super waarm. Jai and I decided, since I was feeling a little down, to have a bit of a lazy day. We went searching for one of those sponges for washing dishes where the soap goes into the handle - they probably have an official name, but I don't know it. We looked at the grocery store, the Home Hardware, the Variety Store, and the Pharmasave, and then we were out of places to look.
Spent most of the rest of the afternoon beginning to organize the shop. It's starting to look good. We could probably use it now, we just have to get our dust collection system hooked up. We figured we should get on that, as we've started to tell people in town that we are self-employed woodworkers!
We got two interesting phone calls tonight - one from the developer calling to find out if we would be interested in selling a piece of our property. We said maybe - we'll keep you updated. The other call was from Joel and Jocelyn, our friends in Victoria. They are taking the train out all the way across Canada in a couple of weeks. It was great to hear from them, and we're really looking forward to their visit.
Jai just reminded me to tell everyone that you have to keep hitting refresh if you have the Blog bookmarked, or it might not show you the newest incarnation (although if you're reading this it means either you don't have to or you already figured it out)
I found another auction listed in the paper. This one is in Upper Clements, which I think is close to here, so we're going to try to make it to that one. It lists some Victorian furniture as part of the items, so we have our fingers crossed, It should be a fun time anyway, I'll try and get some pictures. Speaking of pictures, here's a couple more of various things along the way:

Gum Ghost (the only ghost we've seen so far):

The Annapolis River (two minute walk from our house):

Some random shots of Quebec and New Brunswick:

hi guys - Mom and Aunty Janet here ... we're hoping this works! I'm sure missing you guys - I've started on a care package of things already so will add the soap handled scrubber (I don't what it's called either) cause I think they'll have one in Calgary! I'm very excited about the impending snow predicted for Calgary this Sunday - Janet, not quite so excited. We watch your blog regularly and will set it up so Grandma and Grandpa can say hello too! love you XOXO Mom and Aunty Janet. (if this works, Janet will send another message)...

hey guys! this is A. Janet. I'm so glad your mom is here to launch me on the blog! You have to know that it is the first thing I do when I get home from school...wondering and thinking about your every mile and now your every pound of dust, nails, and paint. Thanks for also sending along your jai and lauren addresses @ sleeping forest too. Your pics are wonderful by the way--putting pictures to your words are more fun with your eyes' camera behind them. Joc and I are doing bookstore tomorrow...with lunch :) It is supposed to snow/rain on Sunday and snow by Monday.. Joc thought that if she can't have a good thunderstorm that a good snow is the next best thing. Who would think? Let us know how the auction is. They are a ton of fun, and hopefully the prices fetched are lower than they are out west had you been at the same auction. Well guys. Be kind to yourselves during early days of 'on your own'. Think treats!! love you, Janet XOX

Hey Guys, thanks for the notes. I hope for Mom's sake you get a snowfall, but for everyone else's sake it's not enough to stick. And then you get days and days of sunshine to follow! It's great to know you're enjoying the Blog!
